Open source won the web once. What will it take to win AI? Let’s ask someone who was there the first time. Apache co-founder Brian Behlendorf joins us, along with Kali Villarosa and Seher Shafiq from the MozFest team.

Brian co-founded the Apache web server project and the Apache Software Foundation, and he was a founding board member of the Mozilla Foundation back in 2003. He stayed on that board for 23 years. These days he sits on the board of MZLA, the Mozilla company behind Thunderbird and Thunderbolt, the open source AI client that launched this year. In between he ran Hyperledger and the Open Source Security Foundation at the Linux Foundation.
Kali and Seher are part of the Mozilla Foundation team that puts MozFest together. MozFest is October 28th to 30th in Barcelona, and for the first time it has a track built for developers: ten sessions on production-ready open source AI stacks, security for agents, running models on your own machine, and the agent standards still being drafted.
